a defiant stance against defeat to the weather, yarn twisted and knitted and formed into armour against the cold, the wet and the wind.

Woven or knitted, wool is masterful - technical in the truest sense, adapted to the lands that grow it and the sheep that wear it, capable of wicking away moisture,
repelling mist and rain, keeping a body warm when weather is inclement but life must persist and work must be done.

But the true story of knitwear is distinctly more human, more familial and much more deeply romantic.
It is the story of family knit patterns and home grown yarn - of garments made with love and worn with utility.
Distinctly Northern, with memory in its fibre of cold highlands and salt soaked ships
- knitwear has long been associated with the path from a chair in front of the fire
to a wearer relying on that warmth from home.

The RAF Rollneck 

A true wardrobe staple, the RAF Rollneck is a takes inspiration from knitwear worn by members of the Royal Air Force in the 1940's. Whilst the original pieces were renowned for their warmth and durability and frequently worn under shearling slight jackets, ours is made to equally sit easily underneath a suit or over a pair of denim. Knitted in a soft Geelong lambswool that whilst weighty is beautifully soft to wear, the high ribbed waistband is made to hug the waist and allow the middle section to blouse without too much excess.

The RAF Shawl Collar

The Shawl Collar follows the same proportional principles as the Rollneck, however it follows the form of sweaters that were favoured in the 1920's and 30's. Popular amongst sportsman and University students, the Shawl Collar shape is designed to be worn over shirting, with the collar worn relaxed when indoors or flipped up during inclement weather.

Cashmere Rollneck & Crewneck

The Cableknit Cashmere Crewneck and Rollneck came about from our desire to find refined lightweight pieces that would not only be suitable for the shoulder seasons, but that would also compliment tailoring -  able to take on semi formal dinners or cocktail events. Designed to sit closer against the body and with a slightly longer hem shape than some of our other knitwear, they can be tucked into the waistband of a pair of pleated trousers, if so wished, with the set in sleeves sitting neatly and comfortably underneath a sports coat.

The 'Shaggy' Shetland Sweater

The 'Shaggy' Shetland sweater is a classic of Ivy League campus wear due to its easy wearability and the unparalleled feeling of comfort it gives to its owner. The woollen fibres are double brushed to not only soften but also to exaggerate its natural characteristics. Taking into account our core offerings, the silhouette of our Shetland's is slightly neater than some might be used to, with a higher neckline and shorter body paying tribute to those worn by both intellectuals and misfits.
